Christmas is coming...

Only a few weeks to Christmas....so it is a hive of activity in the Newton household.  99% of my presents are going to be homemade this year, so every night, once the little man is tucked up in bed out come the crafting baskets (don't really like the word crafting - sounds a bit too twee - but is the only descriptive I can think of!).

One day I would love to have my own sewing room - but for now I make do with storing things in baskets behind the sofa!

I just love ribbons!

One of my flowers made from scraps of fabric.

Unfortunatley I cannot show some of the things I am making, till after Chrismas, as I don't want to spoil the surprise for the recepients!!  All I can say is that a lot of love is going into everything I am making!!

However I can show you the christmas decorations I have made to go on our tree...

Christmas angels next - I will post a picture when they are done.

I am feeling a lot more organised this year on the run up to Christmas - last year past us in a daze, as Michael was still a tiny baby and we were enduring sleepless nights.

Night Night! xx

Heart bunting and corsages...

I had a few weeks where I became a little bored with the crochet hook and took to stitching for a while.  Well the bug has bitten me again and I have been a busy bee!  I am trying hearts for the first time and once I have perfected them I will have a go at some heart bunting for my niece's christmas present.

Also been making some corsages..I now have colour coordinated corsages for each of the coats I own!!  I will also be doing some more as stocking fillers for friends and families!!

Bye for now xx

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!

Ohhh I love it...early snow has been falling thick and fast.  I have managed to get organised this year and we are totally stocked up for the possibility of being snowed in.

Our driveway!

After a hearty lunch of homemade vegetable soup and crusty bread... the little man and myself headed out for a bit of a walk in the snow and popped in to see his Daddy at work

Think we need to buy a new snow suit, this one is getting a bit small now.
Once home we stoked up a roaring log fire and I have had an afternoon of crazily crocheting snowflakes whilst Michael had an afternoon snooze...

The snow has not let up since about 3 this afternoon... it will be a wonder if we can open the porch door in the morning.  I love this time of year and I feel very lucky to have such a cozy home to get tucked up in!

Til next time xx

Relaxing week.....

I have been having a much more relaxed time of it this week.  A shopping trip to York with the little man and my Mum on  Monday.  A cracking night at Itch to stitch on Monday night...(a few piccies below)

Then a day of crafting on Tuesday, tucked up in front of a log fire...Bliss!

I kept the little man happily entertained with his treasure basket of toys...
oh and a thorntons white cholate lollipop!!

I also had the chance to do the finishing touches to a couple of blankets I started months ago.  They are destined for the little man's bedroom.

And today we had a ride up Troutsdale near Dalby Forest and a hearty pub lunch.  This is the life!!

Some of my gorgeous buys this week........

Just a few photos of the beautiful things I have purchased this week.............

Beautiful hairclips made by Cheryl-ann Taylor.  They were bought as a Christmas present...but I can't bear to give them away!

Love these colours.

Christmas gift tags made by Andrea from www.finandgabs.blogspot.com.  I will actually be hanging these up as christmas decorations.

Snowflakes

Been having a go at crocheted snowflakes (inspired by http://www.attic24.typepad.com).  I have become totally obsessed with churning them out.....as it is an easy project to carry around in my pocket!  Not sure what I am going to do with them yet though.  Any ideas?
